Who we are
Houston's Orchestra On Call is comprised of volunteer musicians who bring live orchestral music into various health care settings throughout the Houston area. Concerts take place in spaces such as lobbies, lounges, dining rooms, auditoriums, event centers and gardens.
The orchestra offers edifying programs that provide opportunity for reflection, inspiration and education for the target audience and the membership. Our repertoire ranges from classical to pops and seasonal.
Membership is open to musicians of all backgrounds and occupations who demonstrate interest in community building. Expected skill level is intermediate and up. We welcome strings (violin, viola, cello, bass), woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon), brass (horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba), harp and timpani.
Rehearsals and concerts
Rehearsals are on Mondays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the medical center area. Parking is validated for all musicians. The first rehearsal cycle goes from late August to early December and the second cycle from mid-January to end of April.
Concerts usually take place during the weekend. We present two concerts in the fall (early December) and two concerts in the spring (late April).
